Set back from Ibiza town’s bustling main square, Vara de Rey, The Standard Ibiza is just a few steps away from the waterfront, with views overlooking Dalt Vila and the historic walls of Ibiza’s old town. Replacing an old movie theatre, Spanish architectural designer Lázaro Rosa Violán and Barcelona-based architect Carlos Ferrater wanted to echo the town’s whitewashed, balcony-dotted architecture while paying homage to The Standard’s original LA Sunset Blvd property. There are two inviting restaurants, one being Jara, a restaurant and cocktail lounge dressed in bold, jungle-leaf print, and on the rooftop, there is a Mexican eatery, UP, perfectly paired with paisley parasols and spiky pot plants.
There are 67 rooms and suites, decorated in a soothing palette of muted hues, natural materials and organic textures. All rooms have private balconies, and some of the larger rooms have free-standing soaking tubs and separate living areas.
A big feature, of course, is the rooftop elevated 15 metre pool, day beds, fringed parasols, and orange trees framing the panoramic views across town. The perfect spot for a sundowner.
